For the past week, Man-cub D has had a cold, an ear infection, and 3 molars coming in. AT THE SAME TIME. It's been awful. My usually playful boy has shown little interest in his toys/books, no interest in food or drink, and has only cracked a smile a few times. It's been so hard to hear him cry hoarsely for hours because he's tired, or hungry, or just in pain.
Add to that the fact that I have a cold as well, and it's been a week I don't want to relive. However, as we enter the tail-end of this illness, I'm trying to remember the tiny victories we've had this week. Like how Man-cub D has been able to fall to sleep in our arms. Or how we went outside one day and he smiled our neighbor's dogs. How he doesn't fight as much when I try to dry his runny nose. How he still thinks it's funny when we stick out our tongues. How we finally got him to eat a little food by placing small piles of rice crispy cereal on the couch. How his nose has been clear enough for him to nurse, even if he has to try several times.
The benefit to weeks like this is that you know the next one will likely be better. Here's hoping it will be.

Glad he is starting to rally!
